There are a total of 43 office areas in the technoparks, and there are 35 companies, 19 of which are in Karabük and 16 in Zonguldak. All 35 companies in technoparks are local, and 23 percent have academic partnerships. 28.6 percent of the companies located in technoparks are incubation companies. In addition, there is Bartın Innovation and Test Center within Bartın OIZ, which has a closed area of 4 thousand m2. There is also a business development center in Zonguldak Central district.

High-technology companies need a highly qualified workforce with expertise in specific fields, R&D infrastructure, advanced engineering services and an advanced supplier network that can be obtained in metropolitan areas. These companies can shift their mass manufacturing operations to regions that have a sufficiently qualified workforce and industrial infrastructure, logistics opportunities, but offer lower input costs. For this reason, it is considered that the Western Black Sea Region, especially with the Filyos Valley Project, can attract some mass manufacturing operations of large-scale high-tech companies to the region.

The Western Black Sea Region has some advantages in terms of investment ecosystem, such as its location, existing industrial infrastructure, logistics facilities, R&D and innovation infrastructure.
